Sodium Chloride

Sodium chloride, NaCl, is more commonly known as common salt. Where moisture is not a problem, as the material is hydroscopic, sodium chloride is one of the most useful materials for general purpose spectroscopic windows and applications.

Properties:

  • Optical transmittance range of 0.2µm to 15µm
  • Refractive index ~1.5
  • Not to be used in environments where moisture is apparent
