Caesium Iodide
Caesium iodide, CsI, is hydroscopic, therefore soluble in water. Because of this hydroscopic nature, and with it been a soft material, it is very difficult to polish. As it has such a wide infrared transmission range it is sometimes used for components in the widest range spectrophotometers.

- Refractive index ~1.7
